Poole Borough Reserves (4) 7,
Fordingbridge Turks (0) 0.

Bournemouth League Division 1
Saturday 12th September 2009

The reserves certainly responded to their pre match team talk in the most emphatic way possible by totally dominating the whole game.

The side could certainly not be criticised for a poor 1st half performance this week as they launched into Fordingbridge from the opening whistle and they looked like they had taken the lead in very 1st minute from SQUIRE who was put clean through, only for his effort to be ruled off side !!!!.

PORTER on 6 minutes went close, back came Fordingbridge as FARNON had to defend well moments later when covering their forwards run.

Borough continued on the front foot as their high tempo passing game caused more and more problems, the only surprise to those watching was that it took until the 22nd minute for the 1st goal to be scored and when it came it was a bizarre finish to say the least, following an excellent run and shot from MOLYNEAUX the resulting rebound struck SQUIRE on the behind and into the net !!!! 1-0

Moments later and another good run and shot from KENDRICK in the 24th minute, saw the second ball go to WATSON who slotted home 2-0

Borough then dominated proceedings but were unable to add to their tally, Fordingbridge, to their credit came more into the game as the half wore on and could of pulled a goal back in the 35th minute when their forward had a free header from a corner.

Back came Borough and a sweeping move involving SQUIRE & KENDRICK saw the latter’s cross knocked home by PORTER 3-0. The home sides tails were up now and right on half time an excellent team move involving HAMPTON-BROWN, WATSON & SQUIRE saw the ball end up with PORTER again to poke home 4-0

HALF-TIME PBFC 4-0 FT

The second half was a more slower affair as Borough strived for more goals, with the game effectively secure Borough attacked at will as Fordingbridge retreated and tried to contain Borough’s play. On 51 minutes SQUIRE found himself in the clear and with the keeper advancing he casually “kneed” the ball up and over and into the net 5-0

Borough were now playing some good football and it was no surprise to see PORTER complete a well deserved hat trick in the 57th minute when he finished well following another good move 6-0. Moments later and it was 7 as KENDRICK put in HOLBERT who lifted the ball over the advancing keeper 7-0.

The game then petered out as Borough over complicated their play which at 7-0 up was no surprise, they had done a good days work so could be forgiven !!!

Giles was extremely pleased with his sides performance, attitude and collective will to win, they took on board their instructions and executed them from the start, they have now set themselves a benchmark and Giles & Sean will be challenging their players to maintain the level of play shown, all in all a well deserved win. Giles also paid tribute to Fordingbridge who battled gamely to the end and never gave up.
