Bournemouth League Division 1
Saturday 31st October 2009

Borough succumbed meekly to the League leaders who deservedly ran out winners at Iford.

Borough always knew it was going to be a hard game against their unbeaten opponents and so it proved as Portcastrian raced out of the blocks and put Borough onto the back foot early, early chances came and went as their forwards wasted good chances.

In the 17th minute SHEAR reacted well to push the ball away for a corner from which HOLBERT had to clear off the line. Borough's first real chance fell to MOWLEM who hit the outside of the post following good work from PORTER to centre to him. Moments later and PORTER forced the home keeper into a smart save.

However Portcastrian's better attacking play saw them rewarded when their forward was allowed to run through unchallenged to slam home 1-0.

Borough appeared to be visibly shaken and in the 44th minute another Borough attack was broken down by Portcastrian and despite SHEAR saving the initial shot, their forward was quickest to the loose ball to hit home 2-0

HALF-TIME 2-0

Borough were challenged not to lose the second half, and to their credit they did that, however they were not able to score any goal. Good efforts by MOWLEM and PORTER went close as SHEAR had to be alert on more than 1 occasion to keep the score down. T

The whole side was bitterely disappointed to not have played to their potential, Giles & Sean acknowledged that they were beaten by the better side but were very frustrated at the lack of application shown, especially in the first half when to many players did not look up for it. the side has to realise, and realise quickly that every game the reserves play, the opposition will scrap for everything and we will have to match and better them if we want to win games.
