Bournemouth
League Division 1 Borough produced a below par performance against a very workmanlike Redhill outfit who looked dangerous once they got the ball forward to their prolific striker, however, he like the Borough forward line had an off day as the game ended in stalemate, to Boroughs credit they looked the more likely to score as their second half performance deserved something from the game. Borough started the game well as they looked to use the width, the first chance of note fell to PORTER in the 9th minute when he scuffed a shot after being put through by an excellent ball from FARNON. As the half wore on, Borough were too often guilty of conceding cheap possession, SHEAR was alert in the 28th minute when he quickly cleared the danger. When Borough did get into good positions, the final ball/cross was farto often to close to the keeper. On 37 minutes Borough conceded a free kick in front of the penalty box, their wall did the job though by blocking the kick. On 42 minutes following an excellent Borough build up, SQUIRE dragged his shot wide. Back came Redhill who earned themselves a corner, from which they had a free header at the far post that went narrowly wide. HALF-TIME PBFC 0-0 REDHILL RANGERS Borough started the second half with their half time rollocking ringing in their ears and to their credit played a lot better as the passing improved as the side appeared to wake from its first half slumber. HOLBERT went close on 51 minutes following good work from PORTER, minutes later and PORTER was thwarted by the visiting keeper. As the game wore on Redhill began to retreat as Borough went in search of a goal, De BEN went close on 71 minutes following excellent work from MOLYNEAUX down the left while on 75 minutes Squires effort went close. SHEAR and his defence still had to be alert as Redhill attacked in the 77th minute however, SHEAR pulled of another fine block. SHEAR caused a panic with 3 minutes to go when spilling a cross only to see the resultant overhead kick sail wide, back came Borough and again following good work from De BEN, MOWLEM saw his shot saved. Giles was disappointed to not gain all 3 points as he felt that they were the better side, and if the side thought that by just turning up they would win the game, their first half performance against a gritty and determined side should hopefully of given the reserves a sharp wake up call, to their credit, the second half performance was a lot better, however Giles will be expecting a vast improvement next time round with no room for passengers !!!!. |
